Interim Global Logistics Manager at Marlink BV/AS
Marlink is marktleider in satelliet telecommunicatie, waar de standaard verbindingen niet voldoen. Scheepvaart, mijnindustrie, mega sport events, NGO’s en olie- en gas industrie vormen de belangrijkste sectoren. Hiervan is de martieme tak het grootst mede las gevolg van de overname van Telemar, MCG, Palantir en Radio Holland. De Maritime sector is “high demanding” het zeldzaam hoge service level, eist wereldwijde levering binnen enkele uren of dagen.
Inertim rol bestond uit change doorvoeren, aansturen global Logistics Control Tower in Rotterdam (12FTE), met warehouses in Stavanger, Oslo, Rotterdam, Houston, Singapore en Dubai, rust brngen en opvolger vinden en inwerken. Verantwoordelijk voor wereldwijde levering van nieuwe systemen, onderdelen en spare parts.
De organisatie ervaarde groeipijnen door overnames en autonome groei. Daarbij andere uitdagingen zoals een ERP transitie die niet goed verlopen was. Het logistic service level was dermate gedaald dat het geloof en vertrouwen in de logistiek diep was gezakt. Medewerkers waren geknakt door uitval, workload en gebrek aan aansturing. Snelle en drastische verandering was noodzaak.
Reorganisatie van het logistics department (Skill matrix, job rotation, capacity planning, training).
Team verbeterd door training en communicatie (ADR, IATA, Incoterms, Lean en feedback) e nsamenwerking.
Introductie Lean and daily stand-up (KPI dashboard, agile team capacity).
Stroomlijnen en vereenvoudigen operations (processen en procedures).
Aantal escalaties reduceren en team in staat stellen deze zelf op te lossen (zelfredzaamheid).

“Eduard started in May 2017 as Interim Manager Logistics at the Marlink Logistics Control Tower in Rotterdam. In this department all our worldwide deliveries are processed, using our five different warehouses in Rotterdam, Stavanger, Houston, Singapore and Dubai. Eduard lead the logistics team through a crisis situation that we were facing at that time, due to extreme and accelerate growth of business and demand. Urgent and immediate action and drastic improvements were demanded by internal and external customers.
We are very satisfied in the way Eduard managed his team in the day tp day operations. He implemented improved ways of communication, streamlined internal processes and drastically improved the output of the operations. He succeeded as well in absorbing the high workload caused by extra business of recently acquired companies. Meanwhile he introduced LEAN in the department, started a student flex pool in order to be more agile, had the team trained in Incoterms and handling Dangerous Goods.
Result was that as well the Sales and Project teams as top management were pleased and stated to have thrust and confidence in the Logistic Department again. The team is now ready for the next phase of controlled growth and a stable performance. Moreover the employees in the team under Eduard’s supervision is now in good shape and happy with the situation. He assisted as well in search and selection of his follow up and after having found, trained him adequately, so that a smooth transition is guaranteed.
